Description: The New Testament shows that Jesus anticipated the future of the written word/Bible. He was teaching the disciples, but knew there were things they needed to know and were not yet ready to receive (John 16:12); He promised the Holy Spirit to the apostles, Who would lead them in the truth and would bring to their remembrance all that Jesus said. Even Paul’s writings were identified as Scripture (II Peter 3: 15, 16) by Peter, one of the twelve disciples/ apostles. Later revelation and new “prophecy” is not credible, if not found in the Bible itself.
